Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk or Spoon
  • Nonstick Skillet or Frying Pan
  • Spatula

Ingredients

Main Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk or yogurt
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil or butter
  • 1 to 1½ cups grated cheese mozzarella, cheddar, or mix
  • chopped garlic, chili flakes, or herbs optional, for flavor

Instructions

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix milk (or yogurt), egg, and oil or melted butter.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a soft dough. Gently fold in grated cheese and optional flavorings like herbs or garlic.
  • Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Flatten each into a small round or oval disc (½-inch thick).
  • Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook each bread for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and puffed. Cover with a lid for extra fluffiness, if desired.
  • Serve warm on its own or with dips, soups, or as a sandwich base.

Notes

Experiment with mix-ins like chopped scallions, parsley, or jalapeños. This bread is best fresh but can be reheated in a skillet or toaster.
